The United States of America is a major country and a recognized global superpower on the continent of North America. It shares borders with Canada to the North and Mexico to the South. Russia also shares a maritime border with the state of Alaska in the Bering Strait.
The events of South Park are usually set in the country with the most frequent location being the state of Colorado. However, when Mr Garrison was president, many episodes also took place in the nation's capital city, Washington, D.C.
States
Alabama
- Cartman's Confederate army briefly marches through Alabama in "The Red Badge of Gayness".
Alaska
- Mentioned only by Sarah Palin in "About Last Night..." In real life, Sarah Palin comes from Alaska.
Arkansas
- Bentonville is the corporate HQ of Wall-Mart, which appears in the episode "Something Wall-Mart This Way Comes".
- It is also where the World Wide Recorder Concert took place. Mr. Garrison was born and raised in Arkansas.
Arizona
- The State and city of Scottsdale were mentioned in "The Ungroundable" as the place where the Goth Kids sent the leader of the South Park Vampire Society in an effort to stop kids from confusing them with goths.
- Kyle and several boys drive through the Arizona desert with Jambu and eventually break through the U.S./Mexico Border Checkpoint before reaching Tijuana in "Free Willzyx".
- The "Arizona Juvenile Detention Center" is set in Arizona. Trent Boyett is shown being released from here in "Pre-School".
- Sophie Gray is from Scottsdale, Arizona.
California
- Aside from Colorado, California is one of the most frequent locations in South Park.
- Randy calls Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Governor of California, to ask his support in the war against New Jersey in "It's a Jersey Thing".
- San Francisco was devastated by a smug storm in "Smug Alert!" due to the inhabitants being smug enough to generate an actual atmospheric disturbance.
- The city was once more razed by Cartman and Cthulhu in "Coon vs. Coon & Friends".
- The city is mentioned again in "Whale Whores" after news footage shows the Japanese rush into Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and slaughtering dolphins and whales.
- Towelie was sent to rehab in Southern California.
- The city of Los Angeles, as well as cities within Los Angeles County, are seen or mentioned numerous times on the show:
- Butters and Cartman disguised as A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000 visit his Uncle Bud and Aunt Nellie in Los Angeles in "AWESOM-O".
- Cartman travels from Colorado to FOX Studios in Los Angeles in "Cartoon Wars Part II".
- Satan has his party at The W hotel in Los Angeles in "Hell on Earth 2006".
- The Cathedral of Our Lady of The Angels in Downtown Los Angeles is shown in "Hell on Earth 2006".
- The boys take the beggars and hobos from South Park to Santa Monica in the episode "Night of the Living Homeless".
- The song "California Loves the Homeless" from "Night of the Living Homeless" mentions the cities of Santa Monica, Brentwood, Marina del Ray, and Venice. All four cities are located within the Westside area of Los Angeles County.
- Marina del Rey harbor in Los Angeles appears in the episodes "Butterballs" and "I Should Have Never Gone Ziplining".
- Cartman releases a bunch of apprehended Mexicans at Santa Monica Beach in "The Last of the Meheecans".
- In "HappyHolograms", Cartmanbrah states that the Record Producer's office is in Los Angeles, with the "Hollywood" sign and the Capitol Records building visible in the background. The same office view of Hollywood and Capitol Records was also seen in "The Cissy" and "REHASH".
- In "Turd Burglars" Kyle asks himself "Am I just an Airbnb in Santa Clarita?". Santa Clarita is a suburb in Los Angeles County, 30 miles northwest of Downtown Los Angeles.
- In "The Pandemic Special", the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank is shown. Burbank is a city in Los Angeles County located 12 miles northwest of Downtown Los Angeles and is home to several movie and television production studios including Disney, Nickelodeon, and Warner Bros. Entertainment.
- Orange County and cities within the county are shown or mentioned a few times:
- The Orange County Crew and their coach as well as the OC Convention Center from "You Got F'd in the A" are from Orange County.
- Disneyland, located in Anaheim, is shown in "Raising the Bar" and "Obama Wins!".
- Knott's Berry Farm, an amusement park in Buena Park, is referenced in "Hell on Earth 2006" and "The Wacky Molestation Adventure".
- Stan Marsh has a breakdown after his anti-bullying project fails and ends up naked and jacking it in San Diego in "Butterballs".
- At the end of "I Should Have Never Gone Ziplining", the narrator states that Stan ended up naked and jacking it in San Diego once again after his video on the dangers of zip lining went viral.
- In "Christmas Snow", Randy appears on stage at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio.
Colorado
- Colorado is the state in which the fictional town of South Park is located. The state capital is Denver, which has been featured or mentioned quite a few times during the series. Other locations mentioned and visited include Fairplay, Evergreen, and Greeley, among others. Fictional towns and cities located in Colorado include North Park, Middle Park, and Beaverton.
- South Park is a real-life geographical region in Colorado, but there is no actual town referred to as such in real life. The same is true of North Park and Middle Park.
Connecticut
- Sheila's sister and her son Kyle Schwartz live in Connecticut.
Florida
- Cartman's Confederate army briefly marches through Florida in "The Red Badge of Gayness", and rides a water slide with that Confederate army.
- Cartman flies to Florida to steal presidential ballots in "Obama Wins!".
- The Japanese invade Dolphins Stadium in Miami Gardens and slaughter the entire Miami Dolphins football team in "Whale Whores".
- Cartman flies to Florida in "World War Zimmerman", where he is shot in the arm by George Zimmerman.
- Many Peruvian flute bands, including the boys and Craig are sent to Miami in "Pandemic".
Georgia
- Cartman's Confederate army briefly marches through Georgia in "The Red Badge of Gayness".
- The Japanese charge through the Atlanta Zoo and kill the beluga whales in "Whale Whores".
Hawaii
- Butters and Kenny go to Hawaii, Butters' native land, in "Going Native".
Idaho
- David Rodriguez reveals that he is originally from Boise in "You're Not Yelping".
Illinois
- In "Mystery of the Urinal Deuce" Stan and Kyle go to Chicago by bus after their escape from the White House to get on another so they can get back to South Park.
Kansas
- Cartman's Confederate army marches into Kansas in "The Red Badge of Gayness" and conquers Topeka.
- The school bus drives through Kansas on the way to Arkansas in "World Wide Recorder Concert".
Kentucky
- Cartman goes to Corbin, Kentucky to make a deal with Colonel Sanders about smuggling KFC in Colorado.
Louisiana
- Cartman, with Cthulhu, destroys an amusement park in New Orleans, in "Mysterion Rises".
Maryland
- The Baltimore Aquarium is shown just as the Japanese arrive and slaughter the dolphins in "Whale Whores".
Massachusetts
- The History Channel is deployed to a landmark in Cape Cod, "A History Channel Thanksgiving", under the impression that the landmark serves as a wormhole between Earth and Plymouth.
- In "Sons A Witches", Chip Duncan gets a spell-book, and mentions that it is from Salem, Massachusetts.
Minnesota
- Herbert Garrison is briefly seen campaigning in Minnesota in "Where My Country Gone?".
Missouri
- Cartman's Confederate army briefly marches through Missouri in "The Red Badge of Gayness".
Nebraska
- The Cartman family comes from Nebraska.
- Kyle sent Ike to Nebraska in "Ike's Wee Wee".
- The Boys and Liane Cartman go to Nebraska to see the Cartman family.
Nevada
- Stan, Kyle, and Cartman go to Las Vegas in "Are You There God? It's Me, Jesus" for New Year's Eve 1999.
- Cartman flies to Nevada to steal presidential ballots in "Obama Wins!".
New Jersey
- New Jersey overtakes half the country in "It's a Jersey Thing".
- Sheila Broflovski revealed to be a former New Jerseyan, with her son Kyle Broflovski being conceived there and being her child with a non-New Jerseyan, which makes him half Jerseyan. This was all revealed in the episode "It's a Jersey Thing".
New York
- New York City has appeared in a few episodes.
- The parents got to the Cartoon Central Network to protest Terrance and Phillip in "Death".
- Children from New York heckle the South Park children in "World Wide Recorder Concert".
- Stan, Kyle, and Cartman with Kenny's soul inside him travel with Chef to New York to see John Edward in "The Biggest Douche in the Universe".
- Crab People that live under a TV station in New York City, try and turn the world's men "metrosexual" in order to enslave them in "South Park is Gay!".
- Kyle Broflovski's cousin Kyle Schwartz is from New York.
- In "Pandemic 2: The Startling", New York is attacked by guinea pigs.
- In "Broadway Bro Down", Randy and Sharon Marsh went to New York City to see Broadway shows and drive through Times Square.
- In "HappyHolograms", CartmanBrah's live commentary was broadcasted on the screens in Times Square. Also, during the Washington Redskins: Go Fuck Yourself Holiday Special advertisement, Rockefeller Center is mentioned.
- In "Holiday Special", Randy is shown on the news, having traveled to New York City to defecate on the Columbus Monument in Columbus Circle. He wears a "I (Poop On) NY" t-shirt and accuses the city of being racist.
- In "The Scoots", New York appears on the news being destroyed by the E-Scooters trick-or-treaters.
- In "Where My Country Gone?", Mr. Garrison is put into a barrel and is thrown down from the American side of Niagara Falls in Niagara County, New York to enter Canada.
North Carolina
- Cartman flies to Charlotte, North Carolina to steal presidential ballots in "Obama Wins!".
Ohio
- Cartman flies to Ohio to steal presidential ballots in "Obama Wins!".
- Randy makes random phone calls to the residents of Columbus, Ohio and accuses them of being racists for living in a city named after Christopher Columbus in "Holiday Special"
Pennsylvania
- Philadelphia and the Independence Hall are located in this state.
- In "Sexual Healing", Kyle, Butters, and other sex addicts fly to Independence Hall to help fight the Wizard Alien causing their addictions.
South Carolina
- Cartman's Confederate army marches into South Carolina in "The Red Badge of Gayness" to take Fort Sumter. Stan, Kyle, and Marvin Marsh, along with U.S. National Guard soldiers, arrive to confront them, only to be outnumbered when the entire state joins Cartman's army.
Tennessee
- Cartman's Confederate army marches into Tennessee in "The Red Badge of Gayness" and conquers Chattanooga. Stan, Kyle, and Marvin Marsh arrive, too, but are unable to stop them. Kenny, who is part of Cartman's army, is killed in the city by U.S. soldiers.
- Memphis, Tennessee was mentioned in "Jakovasaurs".
Texas
- Cartman joins the U.S. Border Patrol in "The Last of the Meheecans" to prevent Butters from returning to the United States from Mexico.
Virginia
- Cartman as A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000 is taken to the Pentagon in "AWESOM-O".
- Throughout the Imaginationland trilogy, Cartman, Stan, and Kyle go to the Pentagon.
Wisconsin
- In the episode "How to Eat with Your Butt", Martha and Stephen Thompson, the couple with Reverse Polarity Syndrome, are from Wisconsin.
- In "Summer Sucks", Mr. Hat runs away to Green Bay, Wisconsin where he meets Brett Favre in the locker room of the Green Bay Packers.
Washington
- A picture of the Peruvian Pan Flute bands being detained in Seattle with the Space Needle in the background is shown on the news in "Pandemic".
- One of Randy's co-workers mentions that the production of Wicked is moving from Colorado to Seattle in "Broadway Bro Down".
- Randy leads a protest in the streets of Seattle near Pike Place Market and the Space Needle to legalize cocaine in "Christmas Snow".
Washington, D.C.
- Washington, D.C., the nation's capital, has appeared in several episodes.
- Liane Cartman goes to the White House and has sex with President Bill Clinton in "Cartman's Mom is Still a Dirty Slut" to try and legalize fortieth-trimester abortions.
- President Clinton informs the nation about increasing Japanese military presence in the United States in "Chinpokomon".
- Cartman's Confederate army marches into Washington, D.C., in "The Red Badge of Gayness" to negotiate peace terms with President Clinton. Stan and Kyle intervene and Cartman's Confederate rebellion ends in failure.
- David Blaine's cult goes to Washington, D.C., to commit mass suicide in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Stan, along with the Super Best Friends save Kyle and Cartman in "Super Best Friends".
- President George W. Bush is informed that the boys' ladder to Heaven in "A Ladder to Heaven".
- Josh Myers is seen preparing to toilet paper the White House in "Toilet Paper".
- Kenny's feeding tube in "Best Friends Forever".
- President Bush delivers a press conference at the White House about Family Guy's plans to air a Muhammad episode in "Cartoon Wars Part II".
- Stan and Kyle end up in Washington, D.C., in "Mystery of the Urinal Deuce" and are brought to the White House, where they are told by President Bush about the government's involvement in 9/11, which later turns out to have been a lie to make the government appear all-powerful.
- Randy Marsh goes to the Washington, D.C., where he is to accept his award for the largest piece of fecal matter, only to be interrupted and upstaged by a video of Bono in "More Crap".
- Stan, Kyle, and Cartman end up at the Pentagon during the Imaginationland trilogy, and Kyle and Cartman eventually end up at the Washington, D.C., Memorial Hospital, after Kyle is attacked by ManBearPig.

- The government seeks to deal with sexual addiction in "Sexual Healing" and President Obama calls for the outbreak, traced back to Independence Hall, to be eliminated.
- President Obama announces, from the White House, the imminent destruction of the country in "Funnybot".
- Duck President appears in "Ass Burgers", signing a bill. He is later removed from the Oval Office and President Obama returns.
