Discord is a chatting service that allows for discussions in multiple channels, avatars, and emoticons. It is the primary chat service used by wiki admins, editors, fans and other members to discuss South Park, general topics and, of course, the wiki.

Joining

  1. Install Discord, you can choose your preferred platform on the download page. Alternatively the app can also be used inside a web browser. You will need a valid e-mail account to sign up for Discord.
  2. Join the SPA Discord. Look below to join or click the "Connect" widget on the wiki's main page. You can also find invite links at the end of a episode announcement or reaction blog post. You can share this link for your friends to easily join discord.gg/south-park-archives.
  3. When you join the server, you will land in the #welcome channel. Please be sure at this time to read the rules, which you can find below and in the #rules channel. The #rules channel will always have the latest rules, which update periodically.

Rules and Policies

General Rules

  • 1. English Only:
    • Do not repeatedly write or speak in another language other than English. Moderators must be able to read all messages sent here.
  • 2. Follow the Age Limit:
    • Users in this server must be 17+ years old.
    • Users who are discovered to be underage will be kicked or banned.
  • 3. Be Respectful:
    • No hateful language. Remain respectful of others at all times.
    • Keep all discussion civil and in the right channels.
    • We all come from different places/backgrounds, and have different beliefs. But under NO circumstance should you discriminate against another user. Racism, sexism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, etc. is strictly forbidden.
    • Keep personal drama out of chat. Harassment in chat or DMs is never allowed, regardless of how you feel towards others.
    • Do not share or ask for personal information.
    • Do not impersonate other Discord users or staff members.
  • 4. No sexual or NSFW content allowed:
    • Do not share NSFW content of any kind (e.g. porn, gore, etc.). This will result in a ban without hesitation.
  • 5. No Spamming:
    • Do not spam or flood chat rooms with messages. Encouraging others to spam is also not allowed.
    • No excessive CAPS.
    • Do not repeatedly ask to be in a specific role.
    • Do not repeatedly ask for a channel topic to be changed.
    • Ghost pinging is not allowed. Staff can see who deletes messages, you could get banned for such actions.
  • 6. Keep it in the correct channels:
    • Please keep all discussion in the appropriate channel. Staff may ask you to move a conversation.
    • Bot commands are turned off in all channels except for ⁠#awesom-o-4000.
    • Memes are only allowed in ⁠#memes-n-stuff. You can still post GIFs and images in ⁠#the-park and other channels, but it must not be excessive.
  • 7. Spoilers:
    • Keep all spoiler talk in the appropriate channels.
    • Use spoiler tags when appropriate (put || before and after your sentence for text, or select ☑️ Mark as spoiler for images).
    • Our definition of a spoiler is anything (text, image, audio, etc.) that may reveal information about a story or game that is not included in trailers, promos, or magazine previews.
  • 8. No Political Discussions:
    • Real world political discussions are NOT allowed in this Discord server.
    • The only exception is political discussions related to an episode of South Park (e.g. Garrison Trump, etc.).
  • 9. No Piracy:
    • Only links to uploads at South Park Studios and official streaming partners are allowed. DO NOT ASK/DISCUSS WHERE TO PIRATE THE SHOW (this includes clips).
    • Do not post/click on suspicious looking links. Ping @Discord Moderators immediately if you see anything that looks suspicious so it can be dealt with accordingly.
    • URL Shorteners are NOT allowed. Any use of them will result in an immediate ban.
  • 10. No Promotions:
    • This Discord can not be used to self advertise other Discord servers, social media accounts, giveaways, software, and/or personal services.
    • Link your social media to your Discord account and let people find you on their own terms (any NSFW content linked to your account will result in an immediate ban, you have been warned).
  • 11. Art and Fanart:
    • You can post your art/fanart in #⁠art-channel or #fan-art (it also must follow all previously stated rules).
    • ALL outside art/fanart must be properly sourced. Artists deserve credit for their hard work.
    • AI art is not allowed under any circumstance, especially if you try to present it as your own.
  • 12. No Roleplay or “Shipping” Discussions:
    • We do not allow roleplay on this server.
    • We do not allow the discussion of “shipping” characters from the show.
  • 13. Admins and Moderators hold Final Say:
    • Listen to and respect the volunteers that work hard to keep this server and wiki running!
    • Mod & Admin discretion may be used for user conduct, you may be kicked or banned even if you did not break any of the rules stated above. Maintain yourself professionally, but you can still have fun in the appropriate channels.
    • DO NOT ping Admins or Mods repeatedly for no reason, this may fall under the previous rule and discretion will be used.
      • This also applies to DMs. If you harass/spam messages in any staff member’s DMs for no reason, you will get banned from the server.
    • Always follow Admin or Moderator direction for posting in specific channels.
    • NO USERS should attempt to mini mod if they are not an Admin or Discord Moderator. This includes telling users to drop conversations, informing them of breaking the rules, moving conversations to other channels, etc. Please contact @Discord Moderators if you spot any disruptions.
  • 14. Respect Discord’s Guidelines & Terms of Service:

Voice Channel Rules

  • Please do not insult, put down, or otherwise say anything remotely rude about another user.
  • Please do not make weird noises or force others to listen to your rad tunes.
  • Please do not say obscene things.

Wiki & Discord Block Policy

  • A Wiki block is an automatic ban on the Discord server.
  • A Discord ban may or may not result in a Wiki block.
  • COPPA and Wiki.gg Staff bans also disqualify any user with those issues from joining the server.

  • Send a DM to @ModMail#5460 and select “South Park Archives”. One of our staff members will be with you as soon as possible.
    • DON'T BE AFRAID TO SPEAK UP! You will remain completely anonymous to all users, apart from staff, here. Consider this your Safe Space.
    • Sidenote: Please do not use this server to ask for help with very serious personal issues. (Please seek professional help elsewhere for these types of issues! They know what they’re doing and what's best for you!)

Roles

Roles are groups of users who have privileges to do certain things or access certain channels. Roles are tiered, so each role has access to all the same permissions as the roles before it. Some roles are purely for title and "inside joke" purposes and may not gain any additional rights or channels. Roles may change frequently and may not be updated here.

  • Wiki Bureaucrats - These users are wiki bureaucrats. They hold the biggest power on the server.
  • Wiki Administrators - These users are wiki administrators.
  • Discord Admins - The leaders of the chat moderation team.
  • Discord Moderators - These users have special privileges (kick, ban, etc), with the responsibility to keep the server running smoothly.
  • The Council of Geniuses - These are trusted and reliable members of our South Park Archives community who help contribute ideas for server improvement.
  • Cool Kids - Special people; a role bestowed only upon SPA users who have made a big mark in the community.
  • Verified Editors - This role is for verified wiki editors! For this role, you need 70+ mainspace edits. Verification in the ⁠#wiki-verification channel.
  • Wiki Enthusiasts - Starting off as a new editor? This role is for you! Select it in the “Channels & Roles” section of Onboarding by selecting “To Discuss the wiki”.
  • Wiki.gg Staff - A role reserved for staff of our wiki host, wiki.gg.
  • Nitro Boosters - Thanks for boosting! You get access to an exclusive channel.
  • Regulars - This role is meant for the server’s most active users. It is automatically given to people when reaching a certain amount of messages in all channels, except the bot channels.
  • Former Staff - For retired staff members, mostly reserved for retired Wiki Administrators.
  • Bots - This role is for the various bots on the SPA Discord. Some bots used include: Tatsumaki, UB3R-BOT, Wiki Bot and Dyno.
  • New Kids - Everybody needs a starting point, and this is where you begin. You're automatically put in this role after entering on the server.

  • #memes-and-stuff - A channel filled with memes.
  • #general-gaming - You are a gamer? Talk about your favorite games here!
  • #booster-club - An exclusive channel for Nitro Boosters.
  • #travel - For sharing impressions from your travels.

The Wiki

  • #wiki-verification - Users with 70+ mainspace edits can request the Verified Editors role in this channel.
  • #wiki-discussion - Discussions about South Park Archives. All users have access.
  • #wiki-activity - This channel shows the newest Recent Changes on the wiki. Powered by Bot Magic.
  • #editing-help - Need some quick tips on an edit? This is the channel for you. Everyone has access to this channel.
  • #to-do-list - List of tasks and projects across the wiki we could use help with.
