  • Loogie, Scott Tenorman, Kevin McCormick and Shelly Marsh can be seen at the beginning in the gymnasium watching Kyle's presentation. Even Scott can be seen clapping at the end of Cartman's presentation.
  • Eric Cartman's hand puppet's name is pronounced "Hennifer Lopez" due to the heavy Hispanic accent Cartman used for it.
  • Inside "Ur Da Star", pictures of Elton John, Marilyn Manson, and Phil Collins can be seen in the room where Cartman and Lopez sign up to create a music video.
    • Also, Slash's tophat and curly hair can be seen in the window display outside the studio.
  • On the National Inquisition cover, a picture of Yoko Ono with the line "BREAKUP! 'Still Not My Fault!'" can be seen, referring to accusations that she was responsible for the breakup of the band, The Beatles.
  • The magazine covers, "Peeps", "Vague", "Belle" and "The National Inquisition" are references to real life publications "People", "Vogue", "Elle" and "The National Enquirer"
  • The episode title has a double meaning. First being reference to Beavis & Butthead, created by Mike Judge. The second is a reference to Jennifer Lopez's "big butt" and Ben Affleck's "flat face" seen in profile, as mentioned in the commentary for this episode.
  • This is the first episode in which Jimmy Valmer appears at South Park Elementary.
  • List of flags that appeared in the cultural activity include: Panama, Puerto Rico, Suriname, Bolivia, Aruba, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Brazil, United States, Cuba, Costa Rica, Honduras, Curaçao, Argentina, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, and Italy (may be mistaken for Mexico, given the geographical locale of other countries represented).
  • On the season 7 DVD commentary, Matt Stone and Trey Parker mention that the worker standing next to Jennifer Lopez in the La Taco restaurant is supposed to be Interscope A&R Gerardo Mejía of "Rico Suave" fame.

References to Popular Culture

  • Cartman uses Jennifer Lopez for his Latino Cultural Diversity speech. This act is a reference to famous ventriloquist puppet act created by Señor Wences and his hand puppet Johnny.
  • Cartman and his Jennifer Lopez puppet uses a word for word dialog at the mall from the 1979 film The In-Laws, which in turn also made reference to Wences and Johnny.
  • Ben Affleck did enter into a relationship with Jennifer Lopez in real life, in which they made the movie together called Gigli.
  • The song H'ennifer Lopez sings during the date with Ben Affleck is a parody of Michael Jackson's 1972 hit "Ben".
  • In the final scene, Mitch Conner speaks the line "I wonder... will I dream?" before disintegrating, a reference to HAL's final words in the film 2010: The Year We Make Contact.

Goofs

  • During the start of Kyle's presentation, Tricia Tucker can be seen in two places at once.
  • After Cartman's presentation, when the whole crowd is applauding, Kyle is seen smiling, even though he should not be smiling.
  • The store sign Cartman/Jennifer Lopez make the song at was named "Ur Da Star" but the employee says, "Welcome to Make Your Own Video."
  • The magazine covers in Jennifer Lopez's dream show her as Cartman's right hand, but for most of the episode, she is shown as Cartman's left hand.
  • Cartman wakes up to Ben Affleck and his mom says the tooth fairy must have been extra happy with him, but in "The Tooth Fairy Tats 2000" he was told the tooth fairy was not real.

  • Michael, the shopkeeper of Ur Da Star, is addressed by Ms. Lopez as Miguel in the French and Hungarian dubs.
  • During the argument between Cartman and his hand puppet on whether they should follow Ben Affleck out, each character speaks one a at a time instead of attempting to argue over one another in the French and Ukrainian dubs.

French

  • Some members of the Latino Endowment Council are given lines in the dubbing, praising Cartman's performance with Spanish or French exclamations (or a combination of both) such as "mucho super"[note 2], "¡Vamos!", "magnifique" and "espectáculos".
  • In Garrison's class, the subject of state capitals is changed to the broader "Geography lesson".

Mandarin Chinese

  • List of plot element changes:
    • All Latino cultural references and Spanish dialogs are removed in the dubbing. Instead, the episode focuses on Taiwanese media personalities.
    • The cultural diversity competition is replaced with a radio DJ audition.
    • "Jennifer Lopez" is dubbed as Taiwanese journalist Clara Chou. Chou was infamously known for her involvement in an extramarital affair between 1995 and 1998.
      • A running gag is established for the hand puppet, where she would frequently utter "嗯哼" ("uh huh"). In some instances such as Ms. Lopez recording a song, they may also refer to "having sex".
      • In order to differentiate the real Lopez from the hand puppet, Lopez is named 周玉扣 (Zhōu yù kòu), while the puppet is named 周玉摳 (Zhōu yù kōu).
    • Ben Affleck is dubbed as Taiwanese politician Jaw Shaw-kong.
    • The "real" identity of the hand puppet (Mitch Conner) is dubbed as Gollum, a character from The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
  • Jeering can be loudly heard when Cartman is introduced onto the stage.
  • The South Park Mall is renamed to parody the Core Pacific City, a shopping mall in Taipei.
  • Cartman was awarded a NT$500 gift card for winning the competition. The music video shop, on the other hand, charges Cartman the full amount of NT$500.
  • The taco which Cartman "fed" to "Ms. Lopez" at the mall is changed to a potato chip.
  • In comparison to "Ms. Lopez" video shoot, the Ur Da Star shopkeeper comments that it is better than that of Hong Kong-American singer William Hung.
  • The BHI director and his aides are more open in explaining their firing of Jennifer Lopez, directly pointing out her "foul-mouthed behavior ever since joining the record."
  • In Garrison's class, the subject of state capitals is replaced with that of Legislative Yuan members taking an additional role in hosting television shows.
  • The La Taco manager takes a stern approach towards Jennifer Lopez, threatening her with dirty chores and night duties if she maintains her behavior.
  • At La Taco, Jennifer Lopez addresses the co-worker beside her as Jacky Wu.

Ukrainian

  • Principal Victoria's line following Kyle's presentation is muted. Later, she would not repeat Cartman's name while introducing the latter on stage, nor express disbelief after doing so.
  • No crowd reactions are heard when Cartman introduces "Jennifer Lopez".
  • "Jennifer Lopez's" line of "When you eat a taco it comes out your backside too, cholo!" is narrated using Cartman's regular voice.
  • The hand puppet's line of "You can suck my culo, chica!" is fully translated to Ukrainian with "Поцілуй мене у дупу" (Potsiluy mene u dupu, "Kiss my ass").
  • After Cartman declares that he would not record the album following Jennifer Lopez's assault, Kyle's line of "Good" is muted.
  • Cartman does not consent to his hand puppet going out with Ben Affleck. Instead, Cartman ends his argument with "Слухай ти курва блядь" (Slukhay ty kurva blyad', "Listen, you fucking whore...").
