"The Heat is On" is a song by Glenn Frey, which is part of the soundtrack from the 1984 movie Beverly Hills Cop. It was played briefly twice in the Season Seventeen episode, "Taming Strange".

Background

Kyle comes to ask Mr. Mackey for advice about his Ike's recent behavior. Mackey tries to use the IntelliLink computer software again, but initiates yet another popular song from the 1980s instead.

The song later plays again through the PA system when the sprinklers in the cafeteria malfunction and drench everyone's clothes, while Mackey is sitting on the floor looking down.
