Trivia

  • Kenny does not appear in this episode.
  • This episode marks the first Halloween special since "Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery".
  • This episode marks the first time a deceased person is summoned. The second was "Reverse Cowgirl" where Sir John Harington was summoned, and the third time was "Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers", where the Goth Kids summon Edgar Allan Poe.
  • This episode marks Satan's last appearance for eight years, until the Season Eighteen episode "Freemium Isn't Free".
  • This is Tweek Tweak's final speaking role until "Eat, Pray, Queef".
  • The original airing saw Bundy simply ripping out Dahmer's tongue instead of cutting it off; Dahmer falls to the ground, then Bundy hits Gacy, who falls over as well, before collapsing himself with the knife still in his body. Later airings extended this scene with Bundy cutting off Dahmer's tongue instead of ripping it out, Dahmer stabbing Bundy upwards through the throat, and the eyeless Gacy bashing Dahmer's skull in with a rolling pin. Unlike in the original airing, Gacy does not fall to the floor.
  • The episode sparked controversy when it first aired because of the depiction of Steve Irwin. His widow, Teri, was said to have been very upset about the way Steve Irwin was portrayed, and was worried that their children would see the episode and be upset as well.[1]

Continuity

Goofs

  • Butters is heard singing "Going Back to Cali" during Biggie's interrupted flight to L.A. Biggie's album Life After Death was released 16 days posthumously, in March of 1997, but this song is the B-side to the "Sky's the Limit" single from the same album, released near the end of the same year, over eight months later.
    • It is likely that this accident occurred because the writers wanted to use a song that featured P. Diddy, whose actions come up frequently in the episode, even though the song features Roger Troutman as well.
