- When Mr. Garrison is teaching history, he is actually teaching the history of the kingdoms in the TV series Game of Thrones.
- Lola, Bebe Stevens, Nichole Daniels, Wendy Testaburger, Red, and Jenny Simons are shown playing Living, a board game that closely resembles The Game of Life. A real version of the board game appears later in the locker room.
- On the wall behind the girls is a poster for The First Unicorn, a parody of the animated movie The Last Unicorn.
- The Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets played on April 18, 2012, at the Pepsi Sports Arena in Denver. The Clippers won 104 to 98.
- One of the advertisements in the Pepsi Center has an upside-down McDonald's logo on it. Their slogan is similar to McDonald's as well.
- Another advertisement is for Moca-Cola, a parody of Coca-Cola.
- Cartman sings the All-4-One cover of “I Swear” by country music artist John Michael Montgomery, twice.

- The episode features a dolly zoom, an unsettling visual effect made popular by Alfred Hitchcock. It occurs when Cartman is told that Nichole went to the basketball game at 17:33.
Continuity
- This is the first appearance of Nichole Daniels and her parents.
- This is Bebe's first speaking role since Season Thirteen's "Butters' Bottom Bitch". This is also her longest gap without speaking, at three seasons.
- Lorraine from "Butterballs" makes a cameo in this episode. She can be seen while Tolkien Black pushes Nichole Daniels on the swings, eating lunch alone near the playground wall.
- Jenny's voice appears to have been changed to a nasally tone akin to Red's. This is different from her voice in "Bass to Mouth".
- This is the second episode in which people are shown to think that Kyle Broflovski and Eric Cartman are a gay couple. The previous occurrence was in "Tonsil Trouble".
- When Wendy says she dated Tolkien for a little while, she is referring to their relationship in "Raisins".
- Cartman, again, shows signs of failing mental health, as he violently attacks Cupid Me with a baseball bat, much to Butters' shock.
- This episode features Cartman's second imaginary character, Cupid Me, the first being Mitch Conner. Other episodes where he has made up fictional personalities include "1%" and "200".
- Unlike the two other examples, Cupid Me does appear to be eventually sentient in "Cupid Ye".
- This is the second time Café Monet has been seen during this season, and the fifth time overall.
