Max
Max, formerly known as HBO Max, is an American subscription video on demand streaming service from Warner Bros. Discovery. All 26 Seasons of South Park made its debut for streaming on HBO Max on June 24, 2020, ending the streaming rights from Hulu and moving the streaming rights on the newly launched streaming service. New episodes of South Park will be made available for streaming on HBO Max, 24 hours after its premiere on Comedy Central.
While "Super Best Friends", "200", and "201" were removed from streaming due to the portrayal of Muhammad, much like Hulu, HBO Max removed Season Ten episodes "Cartoon Wars Part I" and "Cartoon Wars Part II" from their listings. However, these two episodes are still available on the South Park website, Season 10 DVD and Blu-ray boxsets, iTunes and YouTube Movies & Shows.
HBO Max defeated Hulu in a bidding war for the exclusive streaming rights to South Park for over $500 million.[1][2]
HBO Max was one of the services being offered by Nathan in "Basic Cable".
HBO Max has been succeeded by Max in 2023, and all content including all seasons of South Park were transferred over to the rebranded streaming service.
It was announced on February 15, 2022 that Paramount+ will be the exclusive home of South Park internationally in 2022, and in the U.S. in 2025, where Max will lose the streaming rights to them.[3]
Trivia
- The Streaming Service has most of Season 1-2's theme mixed up with Season Three's theme in the US, only exception being "An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig".
- Along with the mixed up theme, the theme song for "Volcano" has an audio issue.
