Trivia

  • The DVD version of this episode opens with a Star Wars-like narration of long scrolling text over a starry background.
    • The last two paragraphs of this text read: "If the nasty things succeed, the world could forever become really lame and unimaginative. About as lame and unimaginative as a parody of 'Star Wars'..." This is probably a reference to the TV show Family Guy, which released a parody of the entire first Star Wars film called "Blue Harvest" roughly one month before "Imaginationland III" aired.
  • Aslan's opening dialogue and description of the "final battle" to take place is an allusion to the events of The Last Battle, the final book of The Chronicles of Narnia (which, incidentally, is the series Aslan is from).
  • Butters has a Cyborg Bill poster hanging up on his door which reads "G.I. Bill won't run".
  • This episode features the third appearance of the Woodland Critters and the second appearance of Al Gore who can be seen wearing his Nobel Prize medal.
  • This episode does not censor the word "shit" which is said by Butters at the very end of the episode.
  • Technically, since Eric, Stan and Kyle were all killed by the nuke and brought back by Butters, they are imaginary now, therefore making Kenny the only one of the four who isn't imaginary, as he is absent during the course of the episode.
  • Kenny does not appear in this episode.
  • Somehow, Al Gore did not get sucked into the portal when everyone else did.
  • This episode, along with the other two parts of the trilogy, won a 2008 Emmy Award in the category of "Outstanding Animated Program (for programming one hour or more)". This is the first and only time the show has been nominated for this particular award category, as well as the show's third overall Emmy Award.
  • Aslan's voiceover at the beginning of the episode, is a shot for shot parody of a scene in The Lord of the Rings the Two Towers.

Continuity

  • Al Gore still is on the hunt to kill and will do anything to kill ManBearPig, and seems to have forgotten he "killed it" in "ManBearPig".
  • Stan references the previous episode by saying that he passed 'Strawberry Shortcake tied up and dead with pee in her eye', an act planned by the Woodland Critters.
