Trivia

  • This was Dr. Mephesto's last speaking role until the Season Fourteen episode, "201". Since this episode, he had only appeared as a background character. Trey Parker later commented that by this point he and Matt Stone simply did not find the character funny anymore, and that, in retrospect, they should have made him a member of the real NAMBLA and written him out permanently in this episode.
  • Kevin McCormick mysteriously does not appear, despite this episode focusing on Kenny's family. Because of this, Kenny was depicted as an only child in this episode.
  • The two main agents are the same agents from the Season Three episode "Starvin' Marvin in Space".
  • Since 2002, this episode has aired with a redone soundtrack by Scott Nickoley and Jamie Dunlap, who have composed original background music for the series since Season Five. The HBO Max version retains the redone score. The episode with its original score is currently only available on the Season Four DVD.
    • This episode is also the only episode from the first four seasons to have its soundtrack redone by Nickoley and Dunlap.
  • The "Get it Outa Me" brand abortion pills, ironically, had the picture of conservative Phyllis Schlafly who opposed abortion rights and fought against the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s.
  • Cartman's username is "BigBoned", a reference to his belief that he is not fat, but big boned.
  • The restaurant that appears when Cartman sees Tony316 is the same as the one seen in "Tom's Rhinoplasty", when Stan has dinner with Ms. Ellen.
  • This was the first episode of Season Four not to have '2000' in the name.
  • The music playing during the "North Park Funland" commercial is the same music from the commercials for "Wild Wacky Action Bike" and "Alabama Man" on the Season Three episode, "Chinpokomon". Cartman took over the same theme park in "Cartmanland", a future episode.
  • Cartman was a model before, in "Roger Ebert Should Lay off the Fatty Foods".
  • When the other boys say "Yeah!" upon Stan telling Cartman to get them out of the NAMBLA group, Timmy appears to be saying it just fine.
  • The website name that the two NAMBLA's fight over in the episode is nambla.com but the real NAMBLA has nambla.org as their site.
Tits - Get a Life - This is Gay.jpg
  • After Cartman begins typing on the man-boy chat site, on the ensuing responses, when slowed, some responses can be read. Some include, "this is gay", "tits", "help me", and "get a life".
  • Aside from this episode, pedophilia has been a subject of South Park in other episodes such as "World Wide Recorder Concert", "Red Hot Catholic Love", "The Return of Chef", "The Jeffersons", and "Le Petit Tourette".
  • When chatting with HungDaddy, Cartman interprets 8.5 inches for height instead of its true meaning penis size, which makes him think that the man is a dwarf.
  • This is one of the few times where Kenny's parents do not fight or argue with each other while together onscreen.

References to Popular Culture

  • The John Denver Experience ride is a reference to the death of John Denver, who died in a tragic plane crash.
  • The song playing during the chase scene is "Page d'écriture" by Yves Montand.
  • The chase scene is styled after The Benny Hill Show, a risque comedy from the 1970s.
  • The door chase scene is a reference to Scooby-Doo.
  • In Kenny's dream, a mutant baby is a parody of the antagonist, Chris Davis, from Larry Cohen's 1974 horror film It's Alive.

Continuity

  • This episode explains Kenny's resurrections after his constant deaths; his mother gives birth to a baby identical to Kenny and he rapidly ages and retrieves his former memories and appearance. While this theory is inconsistent with "Cartman's Mom is Still a Dirty Slut", in which Kenny reappeared out of thin air in a magical fashion, it is likely the one that was adopted by the writers as it was expanded further in Season Fourteen's Superheroes Saga.
  • At the start of the episode, Cartman plays a card in the Bill Kurtis game to give Kyle AIDS. In an episode that aired much later, "Tonsil Trouble", Cartman would actually infect Kyle with the AIDS virus.

Goofs

  • In the opening scene where the boys are playing the Bill Kurtis-themed version of Monopoly, Bill Kurtis' name is spelled correctly on the board; however, it is spelled incorrectly as "Curtis" on the box for the game. This game is seen again in "Up the Down Steroid".
  • Throughout the episode, Carol McCormick's shirt constantly changes from "I'm With Stupid" to "God Bless America".
  • When Kenny is in the pharmacy, the green boxes of abortion pills say Fetus away, when they are shown up close, they say Fetus Flusher, then they change back to Fetus Away again.
  • In the sequence with The John Denver Experience, the soundtrack makes it sound like everyone was screaming, but the McCormicks were the only ones reacting to the bumpy ride.
  • When Kyle and Stan arrive at the NAMBLA party, the man Kyle is with has on a plaid jacket and gray undershirt, yet when he is sitting at the table, his shirt is black.
  • Cartman was in the middle of typing his message on the chat room when he started getting messages from older men. It is unknown how they could have known he was a child before he sent the message.
  • When Cartman is posing for photos as NAMBLA's posterchild, "I L♥VE NAMBLA!" disappears from the curtain in the last photo.
  • During Cartman's first chat, the numeric keyboard changes sides in the last scene.
  • Tony316 is not among the people seen in the pop-ups responding to Cartman.
  • In the shots before and after the police raid the North American Marlon Brando Look Alikes meeting hall, the banner above Dr. Alphonse Mephesto says "North American Marlon Brando Look Alike." The text changes to "North American Marlon Brando Look Alikes" when Dr. Mephesto points to the banner.
  • Mr. Garrison leaves the cell without FBI permission and later on attends the NAMBLA meeting.
  • When the boys are shocked at Cartman saying one of them needs to get molested by the NAMBLA men, Louis Handler does not have his scarf.

Kenny's Death

  • In the last of Kenny's nightmares, the monster baby comes at Kenny and slashes him to death with its claws. His father then says "Oh my god! It killed Kenny" while his mother says "bad baby".
  • Kenny is killed by an ambulance that is rushing Stuart McCormick to the hospital after he was molested by the pedophiles.
