Trivia
- This episode's runtime is a few minutes longer than usual, clocking in at about 25 minutes including the credits, while other episodes on average have a length of about 22 minutes.
- Some time after being added to Paramount+, the episode was quietly updated to include several changes.
- Peter Thiel's last line in the episode was originally "Do not listen to these foul creatures of darkness, child," but it was changed to "Do not listen to Eric Cartman's creatures of darkness, child,"
- The background music when Jesus switches sides was changed from a generic peaceful track used in other episodes to a unique, triumphant sounding track.
- Music was added to the scene where Stan Marsh explores his old home. The scene previously had no background music.
- This episode marks the first time a Halloween special, a Thanksgiving special, and a Christmas special have been a part of the same season since Season Three.
- Towelie breaks the fourth wall when Stan asks him "What's going on?", calling the events of the episode "the most exquisitely woven tapestry of ideas that you've ever seen".
References to Popular Culture
- The baby committing suicide by hanging is a reference to the official cause of death of American financier and child sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein in 2019 while awaiting trial.[1]
- The doctor claiming that the baby hung itself when no one was looking and that there is a few minutes of missing footage is also in reference to Epstein's death. It was reported that two cameras outside of his jail cell suddenly malfunctioned prior to his death and that the guards who were supposed to monitor him every 30 minutes fell asleep on the job. Many people believe that he was actually murdered, citing factors such as the missing footage, the guards not monitoring him, and inconsistencies on the autopsy report, as well as the cell's design.[2][3]
- The entire story arc of the baby birth, and the attempts to kill it, references the Trump administration's attempts to stop the release of the "Epstein files", which are documents and records that allegedly connect Epstein, as well as several high profile figures, to a sex trafficking operation on Epstein's private island. Pam Bondi had originally promised to release all of the documents with full transparency before declaring in July 2025 that a client list does not exist and no other documents will be released, and that Epstein's death was not suspicious. It is believed that the decision came after it was reported that Trump's name was listed in the files.[4][5]
- During the beginning scene with Satan singing and decorating the nursery, there is a portrait of former president, Bill Clinton near the Christmas tree. Specifically, it is the official White House portrait of Clinton that was painted in 2002.
- At Shady Acres, Peggy can be heard singing the Christmas song, "I'll Be Home for Christmas".
- Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are seen dressed up in Christmas outfits and standing outside with a Christmas Kettle, which is in reference to the charity organization, The Salvation Army and the volunteers who stand outside of storefronts with a red kettle to collect monetary donations during Christmastime.
- At one point, Beary the Bear refer to Stan as "Susan Sontag", a writer and political activist.
- An instrumental version of the Christmas song, "Joy to the World" can be heard during the party at the White House.
- The guitar that Jesus is playing on throughout the episode is a Gibson Flying V.
Continuity
- Satan and Trump's baby, the Anti-Christ, which was revealed at the end of "Wok is Dead", commits suicide at the end of this episode.
- This event as well as the past attempts of Trump to kill the baby cause Satan to leave the White House, after having been there since "Sermon on the 'Mount", and break up with Donald Trump.
- The Woodland Critters make their first appearance since South Park: The Fractured But Whole and "Imaginationland, Episode III". This suggests that they now exist in the real world and not just the imagination.
- Stan directly refers to Cartman's story from "Woodland Critter Christmas", where Stan also had helped with the birth of the Anti-Christ, stating that he thought the critters weren't real. Although this is their first non-imaginary appearance on the show, they were previously shown to exist in the real world in South Park: Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured But Whole.
- The Critter's explanation for how they now exist in the real world is that "Crap outs have no rules."
- The same Woodland Critter intermission card, as well as the short song, is used throughout the episode, with the "Hail Satan!" being replaced by "Crap Out!".
- This is the first time that we see the Woodland Critters and Satan interacting.
- The only Woodland Critters to not speak in the episode are Porcupiney, who was pregnant with the Anti-Christ during Cartman's original story, and Mousey.
- Satan hangs a Labubu decoration on his Christmas tree. They were prominently featured in “Wok is Dead” where they were shown to be linked to satanic rituals.
- This is the fourth time Satan has broken up with someone. The first time was with Saddam in South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut, the second time was with Chris in "Probably", and the third time was with Kevin in "Best Friends Forever".
- Satan alludes to his previous relationships at the Hospital, saying that he falls for the worst guys.
- This is the second time a character has dared an important figure or organization to sue them, after Stan dared the Church of Scientology to sue him at the end of “Trapped in the Closet”.
- Jesus was previously shown to have been complying with the President's demands over the fear of himself as well as the entirety of South Park being sued in "Sermon on the 'Mount".
- This is the second time a character hoped for Mr. Hankey to appear in a time of need, only for him to never show up in the episode. The first time was when Kyle uses the toilet in South Park: Post Covid.
- This is the second time Stan has unintentionally summoned something demonic while asking for help from an outside force. The first time was in "Freemium Isn't Free", where he summons Satan after praying to God.
- Ironically, Stan accidentally summoning the Woodland Critters instead of Mr. Hankey is also similar to The New Kid accidentally summoning Santa to help them fight against the Critters when praying to Christ in South Park: The Fractured But Whole.
- Many different characters from previous episodes appear at Trump’s party at the end of the episode, including:
- Jesus retained his personality he adapted at the end of "Twisted Christian", is still together with Peggy Rockbottom and still working at South Park Elementary after starting there in "Sermon on the 'Mount".
- Towelie, who had been Trump's cum rag since "Sickofancy", reveals to Satan that Trump and JD Vance have had sexual intercourse multiple times. They were first seen doing so in "Sora Not Sorry", where Trump had debunked leaked security footage of the act to Satan by claiming it was generated using Sora.
- Trump and Peter Thiel refer to each other as “Red Dragon” when communicating through walkie-talkies. Saddam Hussein and Scott the Dick did the same in “Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus”. Trump even quotes Saddam, saying, “Go ahead guy, this is Red Dragon”.
- At the hospital, a room with the number "67" can be seen behind Stan and the Woodland Creatures, likely in reference to the "6-7" meme that has been used throughout Season 28.
- The Marsh Residence makes its first appearance since "Tegridy Farms".
- In the principal's office, there is a jar of HE-MAN supplement powder on one of the bookshelves. It was previously featured in "Got A Nut" during Clyde's (and later, Cartman's) debate podcast.
Goofs
- Peter Thiel's old model from "Sickofancy" appears during Trump's Party, despite him using his model from "Twisted Christian" onwards for most of the episode.
- Stan says that he "Didn't know anything about Satan having a baby", however, he was present during Peter Thiel's presentation in "Twisted Christian", which was all about Satan having a baby.
