Fortnite is an online co-op shooter developed and published by Epic Games. It originally released for Windows PCs, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 25, 2017, with multiple different platforms such as the Nintendo Switch or Android and iOS devices receiving their own ports of the game later on. The game is made up of various modes, of which the free-to-play Battle Royale mode has become the most popular.

South Park in Fortnite

A collaboration between South Park and Fortnite was first announced by the game's X account on January 6, 2026, teasing a release on January 9. The post included an image of Butters playing the game on his desktop with a controller, wearing a headset.[2]

On the following day, January 7, 2026, a promotional short was released on South Park Studios' and Fortnite's YouTube accounts, showing the context of the previously posted image, as well as the contents of the collaboration. The title was revealed to be South Park: Born in Chaos.[3]

The game was first referenced during this episode by Cartman, who says that he will be grounded by his mom from playing the game if he fails yet another math test, which leads him to try to pressure Tolkien into letting him cheat and copy his answers.

"The Scoots"

Various outfits the kids are wearing for Halloween in the episode resemble characters from Fortnite's battle royale mode.
